Long ago, Fr. Geuzo—the pioneer of Don Bosco’s mission in Kerala—planted a daring dream: a Sports Centre where youth would not just play, but grow strong, fearless, and free. Today, that seed of vision is breaking into life, becoming a space where every step, every game, and every cheer builds the future.
We the Salesians of Don Bosco, a network of people across 136 countries in the world are inspired by Don Bosco, to work among children and youth. We are present in most states of India through our work in education (schools, colleges, university). Every year, the work of Don Bosco touches the lives of lakhs of children, youth and other individuals in need.
The Don Bosco network is both mature and evergreen—with characteristic enthusiasm and hope for the well-being of the young. Through sports we hope to develop resilience, discipline, emotional awareness, and life skills, leading. Our aim is to train thousands of young people in various sports, identifying talent and promoting sports-related careers.
Don Bosco Sports Academy in Kochi, actively promotes 10 sports, fostering the talents of girls and boys. There are many champions, who won medals for Kerala at the Junior National Swimming Championship 2026. Many football players from Kerala got selected for the CISCE International championships, were coached by the Academy. These achievements are a testimony to the standards of excellence being fostered by the Don Bosco Sports Academy.
Don Bosco Sports Academy is inspired by St.John Bosco. Began about 10 years ago caters to the children with professional and rigorous training in Football, Basket Ball, swimming, cricket, skating, badminton, chess, karate, etc. The football academy is accredited by two star by the All India Federation and participates in National Youth League. During summer camps for the last seven years Sports academy trained about 15000 students in different sports-arts-cultural activities. Don Bosco Sports Academy aims to inspire and develop the next generation of athletes and leaders who will shape the future of sports.
Who is Don Bosco?
St.John Bosco (1815-1888) popularly known as Don Bosco, was a priest from Italy who dedicated his life to poor abandoned children in Turin. For Don Bosco sports was not extra. It was education. He said sports builds body, “a healthy body for a healthy soul.” Sports builds character. Through Games students learn discipline, teamwork, loosing and winning with grace and leadership. Sports builds relationships.
The spirit of Don Bosco is alive in 5000+ schools, colleges, technical schools, youth centres, etc. all over the world. For Don Bosco sports is for formation not just competition. Score matters but character matters more. Joy and discipline go together. For him games was a tool. The goal was the player.
